I am Victoria Parr, a New Zealand based painter, illustrator, and graphic designer. I am an American artist, spending my first 30 years growing, living, and working in Los Angeles. Influenced from an early age by a vibrant and culturally diverse community that continues to inform my life and my work, I am inspired as much by street art, skate culture and anime, as Renaissance Masters and the Surrealists. After obtaining my Bachelor of Fine Arts, I began my career in graphic design at the birth of the internet age. While creating websites at a time when we were as much software engineers as artists, I discovered my passion for painting.

I now combine my graphic design aesthetic with my works on canvas to create figurative paintings that are vibrant and surreal. My illustrations are playful and imaginative, inspired by my children and the books I read to them when they were young. My graphic design is succinct and minimalist. Moving to New Zealand and starting a family in my 30’s added a richness to my experience, that has brought a sense of atmosphere and joy to my work.

I have been honored to teach drawing and painting in the community, planning and implementing lessons that allow my students to discover their creative voice. I have been afforded the opportunity to help guide my students to see the immensity of their abilities, increasing their confidence and self-esteem in the process.

I continue to grow as an artist and an educator. I live by a philosophy of being completely genuine, always learning, and finding beauty in everything.
